Pregnancy can come with many odd cravings. Some of mine have been Pickle juice with Doritos, or the onion boil (weird for me considering I’m not big into onions) but one thing I’ve been craving since even before I was pregnant- Bacon Fried Cabbage.
It’s as simple as it sounds. The dish has chopped bacon, and then cabbage, which has been sauteed in a tiny bit of the bacon fat, and then seasoned. The first time I had it was at my mother in laws house- and I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Will mine be as good? Simple answer- No. Will it hit the spot? Most likely, yes. If you have kids, or even adults who your trying to get to like bacon, I feel like this is the perfect recipe. It combines bacon, which almost everyone likes, and since your frying it in a little bit of the bacon fat, your going to get a good deal of bacon flavor in the dish, which is a good way of getting people acclimated to cabbage. Believe me, I’m living proof. I used to hate the stuff, and now here I am craving it!

Ingredients:
- 1/2 head cabbage (chopped)
- 1lb bacon (chopped)
- Salt/Pepper to taste
- Garlic powder, Onion Powder Soy sauce (to taste)
- Onion (optional, chopped)
Directions:
Our first step is to always prep the ingredients. Chop the bacon and get that frying, and while your waiting on your bacon to crisp up, that’s the perfect time to cut up your cabbage, and get your seasonings nearby. Once the bacon is crisp, the rest will come together very quickly.
Once the bacon is crisp, remove it from the pan, as well as a bit of the grease. You want enough grease in there to grease the pan and flavor the cabbage a bit, but you also don’t want the dish to be greasy. Once the cabbage is in the pan, season it to your liking. And be mindful, that if you add the soy sauce, you wont need nearly as much salt as the soy sauce is already very salty. I recommend tasting while you season, to get to your liking, and then Sautee it until desired. When your cabbage is sauteed how you like it, add the bacon again and remove it from the heat and serve.
