Garden Update-June
Its June, and my garden is doing Amazing things! I’ve even started harvesting a bit! Its been so exciting how well its been doing so far. But I can already tell the heat is going to be a struggle. Now, you might wanna go read my other posts about my gardens so you know what’s been happening so far.
First off, I harvested my first zucchini off my plant, which I used to make the fried zucchini. I already see a bunch of zucchini babies. More recently I had to pick some off that weren’t doing too well. Overall, the plant looks healthy, and seems to be adjusting to the heat.
My strawberry production has drastically decreased. The plant itself however still looks healthy, so I am remaining patient. I recently trimmed some of the dead flower buds, and rotten strawberries, so I’m hopeful that will help.
My blackberries are doing exciting things though! I’ve harvested a good amount. At first my husband and son ate them right off the bush. But at last I’ve actually been able to harvest and save some (at least long enough fora picture) The blackberry plant alone has been probably my most successful plant yet.
No real news with the tomatoes yet. It looks like one of the tomatoes is starting to ripen thanks to the heat. The same goes for the flowers I planted, although they should be just about ready for a transplant into a bigger pot.
No big changes for my geranium or my sunflower. My peppers need to be transplanted to a bigger container, they are growing much slower and I think they are getting a bit too big for the pot now.
I feel like a lot happened in the timeframe since my last blog post, and I’m harvesting much earlier than I was expecting to, so it makes me curious for the rest of the summer, what it will look like, especially considering the strawberry production is starting to slow down already.
