Creative Ways to Reimagine Your Meals

When I was a kid, my mom would occasionally attempt to serve my father and I leftovers. And both of us really weren’t that big of a leftover fan. Well, it wasn’t until I grew up that I realized how leftovers are actually really good! And once I tried leftovers as an adult, I soon started to realize my problem with them. Now I needed a plan on how to make them something I’d eat.

Hearty Beef Stew

So the previous night I had made a beef stew (see link Here) It was good, delicious and I made so much that I had just enough left over for Daniel and I to have dinner the next night. But I felt like I would have to do a side, since my man puts down some food.

Wait! There’s that recipe Sheppard’s pie that almost looks like a stew mixture under some mashed potatoes. I could make a dish that inspires that exact thing. So that’s what I did. As I put away the stew I put it in a baking dish that would be just perfect for it.

New Shepard’s Pie inspired Dish

The next day All I had to do, was make some mashed potatoes. And I decided to use instant since I was given an entire box of mashed potatoes. I took one of the packets, making it and putting it over the cold stew mixture. Doing it this way made the stew mixture just firm enough so that with the warm mashed potatoes it was easily spread in the baking dish.

After I spread the mashed potatoes, I decided to cut up some butter and just put a few pats of butter around it, and then top it with whatever cheese I had left. Which just so happened to be parmesan. I let the dish just cook in the oven for about 15 minutes, and then let it rest for another 10, in the oven with the oven turned off basically I was waiting for Daniel to get back home.

Final Thoughts

All in all, it wasn’t a bad dish, but it wasn’t anything too spectacular. In a perfect world, I think If I could have added more veggies, and maybe a cheddar cheese instead of a parmesan, I think would have made it a bit better.

Daniel thought it was alight, I knew he wouldn’t be a huge fan of it, but he said it didn’t taste bad. I personally liked it. It was just different enough where it made it feel like a whole new dish, without being one.
