Celebrating 15 Years of Togetherness: A Journey of Love and Commitment
It was Sometime in August or September when we started talking. But it was November 2nd 2009 when we went on our first date. We’ve been together ever since.
Because of our wedding date; December 15th 2010, we have a tendency to celebrate our Anniversary on November 2nd. On our actual wedding anniversary, we’ve created an unintentional tradition of having dinner together and doing the kids Christmas shopping that day. So any celebrating we do, we do in November. It just works for us.
I can remember that first date vividly. I was, and still am not ‘girly’. So for me to ask my best friend at the time for a jacket to wear that cold November night, was a big deal. It was the first time I wanted to look ‘good’ for someone. When I first met Daniel, the first thing I had noticed about him was how tall he was. and I liked how tall he was, and how simple he was too
I can remember planning out the date with him too. We both really liked Chinese food, but being two broke teenagers, we decided on Panda express, and then we went to the theaters, where we watched Zombieland. After that, we just talked on the way home, both of us lingering while I was parked in his parents driveway.
Our relationship spread like wildfire after that. Not only because we felt understood by one another, but we both had family stuff happening to each of our respective families, and being able to lean onto one another helped us both realize just how much we loved one another.
By Late April and Early May there was significant changes happening to Daniels family Dynamic. But Daniel knew one thing, that he wanted to ask me to marry him. I can still remember it vividly, walking down the hallway, and Daniel being stopped at the doorway to the bathroom. He had a look on his face like he was hiding something. The plan was to go on a family walk, something his dad had been trying to do every day.
“What are you doing?” I asked him.
“Go look at the toilet. You wont believe it” He said with a smirk.
So, me, at this point I was dying of curiosity, so I Went in and looked. There sitting on top of the tank, was the beautiful gold engagement ring. No question was actually ever asked. I looked at him, he looked at me.
“I was hoping you’d marry me” He sAID.
i THINK THE FACT THAT WE’RE STILL TOGETHER IS PROOF OF WHAT i RESPONDED WITH. we BOTH WENT OUTSIDE, WHERE i PLACED MY TWO HANDS ON THE BED OF MY SOON TO BE father IN LAW’S TRUCK. Daniel’s SISTER HEARD THE SOUND OF METAL AND METAL AND HER EYES INSTANTLY DARTED FOR MY LEFT HAND.
that SUMMER WAS PROBABLY ONE OF MY MOST MEMORABLE ONES. lots OF MEMORIES BEING MADE.
15 years later and we are still married, Still very much in love, and I cant wait for 15 plus more years with this man.
