Third Time’s the Charm: My No-Nonsense Baby Registry

Most people who have more than one child, are smart enough to keep their baby stuff, so that they don’t have to start all over. But in the case of Daniel and I, things worked out unexpectedly.

For those who don’t know, my husband Daniel was diagnosed with testicular cancer in the fall of 2023. Between the cancer, and my fertility problems, we were told that another child would be nothing short of a miracle. So, we got rid of any remaining baby things that we had kept between my daughter and my son. We were at peace with the fact that we’d only have two kids.

And then 2024 came. My husband had kicked cancers butt, and I got a positive pregnancy test! That means he was fertile again! My husband and I had wanted a large family, so we got right to trying again. And I documented many of my struggles since then.

We got pregnant with our miracle in the spring of 2025. I had fixed my diet some, and taken a prenatal since January of 2025. I got passed my 8 week hurdle and it was looking like we were going to have a 3rd child, so it was time to start planning what I’d need, and putting it all on a registry. Cause essentially, I was starting all over again!

So what did I add?

Being that this will be my 3rd child, I’ve learned from my first two what I really NEED and what’s just nice to have.

1. Diapers & Wipes

This is a no brainer- Now, in a perfect world, I’d totally cloth diaper. But I live in a place where I have no washer nor dryer, so disposable diapers and wipes it shall be. I’m not usually picky on the brand of diapers or wipes, but both of my kids have had bad reactions to Huggies- So as long as its not Huggies brand, were good.

2. Clothes

Now obviously this baby will need some clothes. Not NEARLY as many clothes as I had with my first daughter, but she will need clothes. I’ve added some outfits I thought were cute on my registry, but since I kept some of my daughters old clothes for sentimental reasons, the baby is pretty well stocked on clothes already.

3. Car Seat

If you have a hospital birth, at least in my county you cant even leave the hospital without proof of car seat. With my son, we tried the convertible car seat that went from infant all the way up to toddler, but I did miss some of the features of the infant car seat, epically when it came to going out to eat or grocery stores. So, I added an infant seat to my registry.

4. Breast Pump + bags

I loved being able to breastfeed my son, but the pump I received with him never worked. For this baby, I plan on trying to pump again so that dad can feed her if I’m at work, or grandma, or whoever the case may be. And with breast milk being pumped, I’d need bags to store it in as well. Bottles will obviously come with this as well. With my formula fed daughter we used the Dr. Browns bottles, so I’d probably use those ones again.

5. Boppy Pillow

Even though I plan on pumping milk to give to the baby, I’ll still breastfeed her too, and the Boppy Pillow was AMAZING with breastfeeding, as well as sitting baby up too.

6. Over the Wall Organizer

We weren’t planning on raising 3 kids in a smaller home, so its important that we organize as best as we can. And I found a really nice over the door organizer that will be perfect for the babies clothes and diapering supplies, maybe even more. I’ve been looking into ways of optimizing the space I have so that the home still feels and looks clean, tidy and spacious.

7. Baby Swaddle

When they swaddled baby in the hospital, my kids slept great. But then I never swaddled at home and they slept like CRAP! So I added a cute swaddle to my registry, one that will make them feel nice and snug. I want to correct any mistakes I’ve made when my other two kids were babies, to make this time around as smooth sailing as it can be.

8. Baby Blanket

I’ve always given each of my kids their own special baby blanket, and that wont change with this baby. I picked out a couple I liked on Amazon, and added them to the registry. Usually I’ll use it with them to the point it becomes kind of a comfort blanket for them.

There might be more I wind up needing, epically as the baby gets older, but this is what is on my list for things I need like before she gets here, because most of it will be used as soon as she gets here.
