Have you ever taken something out of the freezer to cook for dinner and then forget what you were going to make? Yeah, that was me the other day. I took out thinly sliced steak. I had an idea when I took it out. But then that night we wound up going out to eat and it got put in the fridge.
Fast forward to today. It’s dinner time and I’m wracking my brain trying to remember what I was going to do with it! So, it’s time to play a little game of chopped. Just start cooking and figure it out along the way. I sliced up the thin steaks into strips and then grabbed a few of the potatoes I still had left and used half an onion.

I started out by using my cast iron to cook my meat in. But soon I realized that I would have to transfer everything to a bigger pan. I didn’t have one, so I used a wok instead. Once the meet was cooked, I transferred it to a bowl, while I started on the potatoes. It was during this time that I transferred everything to a wok, adding the meat strips again and monitoring it until the potatoes reached a texture I liked.
Ingredients:
-Thinly sliced steaks, cut into strips
-Potatoes (I used 4-5)
-½ Onion
-Salt, Pepper
-Oil or lard
Directions:
Start off by cutting up your onion while your pan heats up. Toss your onion in to get soft while you start slicing your steak. Once your steak is nice and sliced, toss it in the hot pan and let it cook. Season your steak and then start cutting your potatoes. By the time your steak is cooked, your potatoes will all be cut up and ready to toss into the pan. Season your potatoes lightly, and taste when they are done before adding any more salt or pepper.
All in all, it wasn’t bad for a cheap quick dinner. And if I were in a pinch, I’d totally make it again.
