Thriving Green Oasis: Latest Updates from My Vibrant Garden
Fall has come in full swing now, and the days are shorter, and getting colder. But somehow, plants I’d never suspect to survive the cold are doing alright so far.
Have my methods changed with this? Sort of. There was this batch of time where it was cold, wet and dark, so I’d check on my plants when I Got home from work instead of before. I figured I can’t see the plants to see how there doing in the dark, so i’d be just as good to check on them later.
So far, they seem to be doing alright with that. There’s a plant or two that seems to be getting ready for winter, but I expect it to bring new growth in the upcoming spring season.
Celerly
I started more celery and its still in the water stage, I’m awaiting roots. Its started new growth from the top, but not the bottom. There isn’t much change with this cause its the newest member of my plant family.
Bell Peppers
I’m still getting blossoms and little tiny peppers! I wasn’t sure what to expect after my invasion, but I’ve got a bunch of tiny little blooms ready to open, and 2 very tiny peppers growing.
Lavendar
My lavender is doing about the same, I don’t expect too much change in my lavender until springtime when I’ll start seeing it flower again
.
Strawberries
If you recall, i now have 2 strawberry plants. My newest one, is dying back. And I don’t know if that’s due to the cold weather, or because of how small it is. My more mature strawberry plant is dying in spots too, but overall that mature strawberry plant is still producing small strawberries.
Blackberries
With the colder weather here, my blackberries are dying back and getting ready for winter. No real change, and I don’t expect much more from my blackberry until spring.\
Squash
My summer squash is still blooming, and even growing little baby squashes. They never get very big, and usually will rot away before I have a chance to harvest it. I’m honestly surprised its still alive with our cold fall weather here. I expect it will start dying soon.
Carrots
My carrots are in the ground, YAy! My husband suggested I add more dirt as they got taller, so I did. and I believe that was a good call. They look nice, tall and strong now. Which, compared to the last time I tried carrots, is a great improvement!
Lettuce
I have two things of lettuce. One head is doing Great! The other one has some sparatic growth and I’m unsure of why. So I’m just making sure the water is nice and moist,
What’s in your garden this winter?
