When I worked as a Noon Duty, I can remember to this day, going to work one day and having a headache. I asked the office manager if she had any ibuprofen or asprin, anything to take the pain away. For some reason, when it comes to headaches, I’m a complete wimp. Even now, I’ve given birth without an epidural, but a mild headache will still put me down for the count.

I’ll never forget, she didn’t have any meds, but she had peppermint essential oils, and told me to put it behind my ears and on my temples. I did as she said and within moments my headache was starting to go away!

From that point on it became my go to if my headache wasn’t hunger or caffeine caused. That is until I saw a recipe for a headache ‘balm’. And it had peppermint oil in it, like I had expected, but also lavender and frankincense.

How I made it

First things first the oil, being that when its cold it can be solidified, I decided it would be best to warm it. Once it was warm I put all the essential oils in it and gave it a swirl. Because it was going to be easiest to put into its new tin still in a liquid state, I poured it into its container while it was still in liquid form. All in all a very easy recipe to try out if you have all of the necessary ingredients. Now, I wanted it to be ready quickly, just in case my husband wanted to try it before work. So once it was in a container, I placed it in the fridge for 10 minutes so it will solidify and not be as messy to use.

Most importantly- Does it work?

This might depend on the severity of your headache honestly, but it has worked for most of my headaches, even the one caused by too little caffeine or dehydration. Will it work for a full blown migraine? Probably not. But for those minor headaches that are there just enough to make you uncomfortable, this headache salve will work perfectly for.
