Its now June. My goal was to have my garden completely in by now, but I’ve now fallen behind. The plants I do have though, I do have great updates for.

If you were here with my gardening while pregnant adventure last year, you know that it wasn’t a great year, but I got a few things. Well, I’m proud to report that as of June 2026, my garden is already doing 10x better than it was at this time last year. Now, with us getting into hotter weather, this is typically where I have my decline, but this year, ALL my plants are moveable if the area they are in becomes too much in the afternoon sun.

Tomatoes

My two tomato plants I have planted in buckets this year, and this year they are producing way more! When we had a unique batch of rainy weather a few weeks back, I was able to move them to prevent them from drowning, and now were starting to get back into my watering routine. I need to get tomato cages for. these babies ASAP though.

Lemon Cucumber

This year, I’m thrilled to report I actually have a lemon cucumber growing! This is a first for me, typically I’m unable to keep a cucumber plant alive, and I think since I’ve been doing a yearly garden this is the longest I have kept it alive ! Typically I find myself checking on it damn near every day, just making sure its still alive.

Strawberry

I have 2 strawberry plants in the same pot. One, from my grandmother, which was given to me by my uncle, who carefully helped transplant it, and then another one I bought. This plant I believe is on its 3rd or 4th year. It comes back every year, and this year I’m about to harvest my first ripe strawberry. I think the odd flux in the weather, prevented it from ripening and growing as quickly as it typically would. Normally I’d have a few ripe strawberries by now.

Blackberry

My blackberry I had to really cut back, so its basically starting from scratch again. There hasn’t been any blossoms yet, but it is growing beautifully. I’m thinking I may not get any blackberries on it this year, but I’m hoping that by cutting it back as much as I did that it will be healthier and fuller next year.

Rosemary

Honestly, I don’t see any change with my rosemary. Its still doing great, I trim it when I need some Rosemary, and working on a herb dryer so that I can accumulate some dried Rosemary as well. Eventually I’m hoping that the rosemary will take up the rest of the pot, since right now its all one one side of the pot.

Lavender

The lavender is getting a bit patchy. Its still overall big and bushy, but there’s some patches in it. I might trim it back to and give it a good amount of water and food, and see how it likes that. Its still beautiful and fragrant, but just….blotchy and patchy.

Garlic Chives

This is a new one I bought, not even 2 weeks ago. I plan on planting them together and hopefully getting one large Chive plant out of it.

Jalapenos

I also grabbed a Jalapeno plant. I have been dehydrating Jalapenos and turning it into Jalapeno salt. So it only seemed fitting to get the plant. Eventually I want to find a way to grow my own garlic and onions as well. (but I’ll need more home depot buckets!)

Asparagus Fern

This was given to me by my mother in law for mothers day. So far I’ve done what I was instructed to do, watering it every week and letting it sit where it gets a decent amount of sun. Its already grown a great deal since mothers day weekend. I’ve never heard of this plant, let alone grown it before, so I’m excited to find out what it looks like, how big it will grow, ect.
